Top Onsite Trends for Exhibitions in 2019

As an event solutions provider with such a breadth of clientele, it puts us in a unique position to spot trends in events and share our thoughts on what we think is around the corner for the exhibition industry.
Here are our top five trends that we think will be hot for event and exhibition organisers in 2019.
Playing with venue infrastructure.
For many organisers it can be a challenge to provide seminar content, networking facilities and meetings space live on the show floor. Improving visitor dwell time is priory for exhibitions and as a result, organisers are becoming more creative with their contracted hall space.
In 2019 that’s set to continue, with many exhibition organisers creating flexible areas which provide a multi-use purpose solution, right in the heart of their show floor. And if you can save money on expensive room hire on top of your hall tenancy then that’s just an added bonus!
Thinking outside of the traditional venues.
Venue location has always been key to an event’s success.
With many of the UK’s venues now reaching capacity and with a focus from events teams on creating more immersive experiences, the hunt is on for more ‘non-traditional’ venues in previously untapped locations and using event fit-out solutions to deliver a space perfect for their audience.
Venues such as NAEC Stoneleigh, which claims to be the UK’s best kept secret, has seen an influx in professional conference take up in 2018 which is set to continue over the coming years.
Flexible options for exhibitors and sponsors.
Getting exhibitors and sponsors to maximise their participation continues to be an ongoing challenge. Organisers are looking for new ways to support exhibitors and sponsors to launch products, host meetings and run live demonstrations . All of this helps to provide more interest for attendees and to help generate a new revenue stream and improve the bottom line.
At the recent IBTM World, organisers Reed Exhibitions asked us to provide a dome that would give exhibitors the opportunity to host private networking breakfasts and lunches live on the show floor generating a buzz and a sponsorship opportunity.
The Glastonbury Effect.
During UFI’s recent Global Visitor Insights research, visitors identified talks and presentations delivered in different ways as the most likely to make a trade show entertaining or enjoyable*.
The ‘festivalisation’ of educational content offering attendees a variety of content streams at events will continue to grow and is certainly a trend that we see building in the future.
From large scale Conference Structures through to smaller roundtable discussions, educational programmes are central in driving visitors to many events and creating more meaningful, memorable content is certainly a priority for organisers.
Solutions at speed.
As with everything in today, time is of the essence.
Demand is for event solutions that can be built and broken down at speed and still retain a professional look and feel. Organisers are trying to achieve more without having to add an additional build day to their existing tenancy. We only see this a trend that is set to continue.
